URGENT UPDATE - JUNE 2021

We have been impacted by staff sickness within the practice so are currently working with reduced staffing levels to answer the phones and also to see patients.  We are working to the best of our capabilities to deal with this but would ask for your patience and understanding during this time.

GP practices have had to change due to COVID-19 and are continuing to work under the Scottish Government Emergency Response guidance.

Practices are working hard to safely provide care to their patients and prioritise those most in need.

Social distancing and increased cleaning procedures limit the number of people allowed on the premises at the same time and during each day.

This means many are unable to deliver the same level of service they did before the COVID pandemic.

Welcome 2021

We have invested significantly in improving our patient facing IT infrastructure and are happy to announce that we have launched eConsult to make it easier to access health information that ever before, have integrated remote video consultation clinics into our day to day via NHS Attend Anywhere and have redesigned and updated the practice website to include more information regarding our services and to make it easier to find reliable information regarding your health as much of what can be found on the internet is false (sometimes known as "fake news").  

Our eConsult service allows you to seek help for a new symptom or existing condition for yourself or your child, to request an administrative service (such as a fit note or GP letter) and to request the results of tests done by your GP (not by a hospital consultant) such as blood tests. You can access it by clicking on the large blue eConsult banner found on the main page of our website or by clicking here.

 

COVID-19 & COVID-19 Vaccine

If you or a member of your family are showing signs of COVID-19 please do not contact the surgery.  Instead please go to the COVID section on the NHS Inform website or contact NHS24 on 111 for appropriate advice. For all other problems we are still open and have remained open for both remote (telephone or video consultations) and face to face consulting throughout the pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many changes to the way healthcare is delivered. In particular all healthcare professionals have moved to managing most problems without the need for a face to face consultation instead consulting either via telephone or via video link using NHS Attend Anywhere. It is highly likely that this more efficient method of delivering safe care will continue for the foreseeable future. 

If you have a question regarding the COVID-19 vaccine then please look on the NHS Inform website or use the national helpline (0800 030 8013) which is open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. The helpline exists to allow GPs to allocate their time to deal with patients who are unwell and who require medical care. The only instance in which you should contact the practice with questions regarding the COVID vaccine is if you are over 80 years old or a shielding patient with a shielding letter.

Unless you are over 80 years old or a shielding patient with a shielding letter, the practice will not deliver your vaccination. Instead the health board will contact you when your vaccine is due. If you believe you should have already been contacted regarding your vaccine then please contact the national COVID vaccine helpline 0800 030 8013.

FACE MASK EXEMPTION INFORMATION FOR TRAVEL

Please do not contact the practice to ask for face covering exemption letters as this is not something that your GP can provide.

As per Scottish Government guidelines exemption certifications are not required but should you need this for travel purposes for an airline then you can request a free face covering exemption card by phoning 0800 121 6240 or through the NHS Scotland exemption card website. Prescriptions

Along with an increased demand for appointments, we have also been experiencing a steady increase in requests for prescriptions. Please help us to meet the needs of all of our patients by only ordering what you need around 7 working days before you need it. We need to manually check every early order and these usually will not be processed. 

Please also note that we are separate from all of our local pharmacies including Boots Pharmacy at Frew Terrace. Our pharmacy colleagues are trying their best to cope with the demand for prescriptions but have advised that it may now take up to 5 working days for your prescription to be processed.

 

Medical Staff Changes

We are delighted to welcome our current doctors in training Dr Bremner (Foundation Trainee), Dr Kuti (GP Specialist Registrar) and Dr Patrick (GP Specialist Registrar) who will be with us until August 2021. 

We are sad to say goodbye to Dr David Cunningham, our senior GP partner, who is leaving us to devote more time to his duties at NHS Education for Scotland. We wish him all the best and we are confident he will be greatly missed by both patients and colleagues whom he has served / worked with for many years.
