Extended Hours - Frew Terrace Surgery

We appreciate some of our patients work full time and may struggle to make an appointment for less pressing, but still important, health concerns. The practice therefore opens for late surgeries on alternate Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. It is expected that pressing problems would take priority over work in most cases.

If you need help when we are closed

Like virtually all Ayrshire practices, Frew Terrace surgery is covered by NHS 24 out of hours (between 6pm and 8am on weekdays and full time on weekends and bank holidays). The number for this service is 111. Patients may be given advice down the phone or may be directed to Ayrshire Doctors on Call (ADOC) which is staffed by out of hours GPs and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Out-of-hours services are generally busier than weekday in hours services and often with a higher number of emergency cases per doctor (there are fewer patients, but also fewer doctors for these patients). Please therefore think carefully before calling 111 and only do so if you feel you cannot wait until the surgery re-opens. Further information can be found on the NHS inform website though if you are uncertain it is generally safer to call 111 for advice.

In an emergency which threatens life or limb you should call 999. This includes new or severe chest pain and/or new or severe shortness of breath.
