Trainee GPs & Medical Students
Frew Terrace Surgery is a training practice which means that there will almost always be qualified doctors who are in training in the specialty of General Practice (Primary Care Medicine) known as GP registrars. These registrars work within Frew Terrace for 6 - 12 months at a time. There may also be more junior, though still qualified, doctors known as foundation doctors as well as medical students (doctors in training) based within the practice. As part of their training they may ask to video consultations or seek feedback regarding their practice via questionnaires.
We also undertake a lot of training with medical students and junior doctors where we ask patients to speak to our students as this is a very important part of their training and they learn a great deal from this. Nurses
All the nurses are experienced practice nurses and have extensive duties, looking after people who have conditions such as asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure. They also see patients for ear syringing and contraceptive advice. They also assist the doctors at minor surgery and well-woman clinics. The clinical team can be contacted on 01294 272326.

Our healthcare support workers are employees of the Health Board's CTAC service. Sarah works Monday to Wednesday and Gail works Tuesday and Thursday.

Reception
A great deal of resource has been invested in the training and development of our staff. We are proud of the fact that we have a low turnover of staff in our Practice. The staff have a very difficult job to do. They have to make sure that the doctors and nurses who look after you have all the correct information. They have been instructed to ask for information from patients. Any information that is given to any of our practice staff is treated in the strictest of confidence.
Community Midwives
Our Midwife is Ruth Irvine. Ruth shares the care of pregnant women with the doctors and maternity hospital. The Midwives’ contact telephone number: 01294 323061.
District Nurses
Our District Nurses provide a wide range of nursing services for people in their own homes. If you require to speak to the District Nurses. They are based at Bourtreehill Health Centre and the contact telephone number is 01294 322244.
Health Visitors
The surgery has a team of Health Visitors who are based at Bourtreehill Medical Practice along side the District Nursing Team. They have specific responsibility for health promotion and the care and developmental assessment of children.
