GP Triage Appointments System

To cope with demand we offer an on the day appointment system.  Patients seeking medical advice should phone between the hours of 8.30am and 11.00am where your call will be answered by one of our patient advisors.  All information given to our staff is treated confidentially and it would be appreciated if you could give as much information as possible to our staff to allow them to direct your call appropriately.  The duty doctor managing the office will then either offer you an appointment immediately or if further information needs to be taken you will be added to the triage list for a call back from a member of the clinical team.

We appreciate that patients often wish to see the same doctor but if you have an urgent condition and require to be seen that day, you should be prepared to see any of our doctors who are on duty that day.

Please note that triage may close prior to 11.00am each day if we have already reached capacity and only MEDICAL EMERGENCIES can be dealt with after this time.

Home visits

If possible please try to telephone reception as early as possible and preferably before 10am if you require a home visit.  Please note that the doctor may call back to gain a fuller picture of the problem and will decide if a home visit is required.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery or branch surgery
  • on a video call

When booking your appointment please advise:

  • if there is a specific doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional you would like to see;
  • if you would prefer a face to face or telephone appointment;
  • if you need an interpreter;
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you no longer need or cannot attend your appointment then please cancel it as soon as possible in order to allow us to give the appointment to someone else.

Please phone 272326 or 216433 during opening hours to cancel.

Patients who continually book appointments and fail to attend will receive a warning letter with the prospect of being removed from our practice list if this persists.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need a doctor outwith surgery hours please telephone NHS24 on 111.  NHS24 will either direct you to the out of hours service or give you advice to seek help elsewhere or wait and contact the surgery when it re-opens.  If you do seek help from the out of hours service, the practice will receive information on your consultation the following day.

In a genuine emergency such as chest pains and/or shortness of breath you should call 999 immediately.
